John Nolan's Obituary
John Francis Nolan, Jr., son of John Francis Nolan, Sr. and Marjorie Dee Nolan, was born August 28, 1932, in Lynn, Massachusetts. He departed this life Monday, February 15, 2010, in his home, near Conway, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, five months, and seventeen days. On May 17, 1991, he was united in marriage to Hedy Lipp Dawson. He was preceded in death by his parents; four nephews; and one niece. John is survived by his wife, Hedy, of Lebanon, Missouri; four stepchildren, Richard Peterson, Karen Wolken, Kathy Peters, and Donna Allen; ten step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Burt, and her husband, Richard, of North Reading, Massachusetts, and Marjorie Blake, of Lynn, Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Lynn, Massachusetts area. He entered the military as a young man, and faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He served not only stateside but also in Germany and Korea during his twenty year career in the military. He eventually retired from the Army, and made his home in the Lebanon, Missouri area. John was raised in the Catholic faith and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Lynn, Massachusetts, in his younger years. He was a member of the Lebanon Moose Lodge # 753, where he had served as Administrator and also held state offices in the Moose Lodge. He belonged to the Lebanon Elks Lodge # 2557, and had held various offices in the lodge throughout the years. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4107 and the American Legion Post # 43 in Lebanon. He had served on the V.F.W. Honor Guard for a few years. He greatly enjoyed the fellowship that these organizations offered and the friendships he made through them. In his spare time he liked working on his computer. John will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday February 19, 2010 at the Mt. Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.Burial will be at Veterans' Park at Mt. Rose Memorial park, Friends may call at their convenience to the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
