John G. Patten (Lebanon)'s Obituary
John Gilbert Patten, son of Henry Oliver and Bertha Alvina May Patten, was born October 19, 1926, in Pekin, Illinois. He departed this life Friday, December 26, 2014, in his home, in Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, two months, and seven days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Fred, Everett, Walter, Eugene, and Edward Patten; three sisters, Betty Patten, Frances Perryman, and Dorothy Patten; and two nephews, Jack Perryman, and Charles Darren Patten.
John is survived by a brother, Bob Patten, and his wife, Diana, of Marshfield, Missouri; a sister, Ruth Patten, of Marshfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews including, Rebecca Patten, Bobbi Thornburg, and her husband, Randy, all of Springfield, Missouri, Mary Griffin, Wade Perryman, both of Grovespring, Missouri, Ray Perryman, Nina Caffey, both of Niangua, Missouri, Basil Perryman, Larry Perryman, Jr., Ron Perryman, all of Conway, Missouri, and Freda Pierce, Rick Perryman, both of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Illinois, and then moved with his family to the Lebanon, Missouri area. He worked for Independent Stave Company for a number of years, and then helped his brothers in their lawn care business. For the last four years, he had made his home in Marshfield, Missouri.
John had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Northview, Missouri.
He loved to talk about cars and tractors and was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team. He liked gardening and doing lawn work, and enjoyed listening to music, especially country and gospel music. He was very close to his family and enjoyed visiting with his friends.
John was a loving brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be made to the Little Vine Cemetery, and left at the funeral home.
