John Robert (Bob) Lawless (Lebanon)'s Obituary
John Robert Lawless, son of Andrew J. and Ethel Webb Lawless, was born February 24, 1934, in Elk Falls, Kansas. He departed this life Saturday, May 29, 2010, in Northridge Place Assisted Living in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, three months, and five days.
On October 25, 1954, he was united in marriage to Shirley Zoe Ann Snowden, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Pat, Joe, Paul, and George Lawless; and three sisters, Ethel Mae Lawless, Anna Erwin, and Florence Bowman.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Zoe, of the home; a son, Tony Lawless, of Conway, Missouri; a daughter, Tammie Bailey, and her husband, Stanley, of Conway, Missouri; nine grandchildren; a sister, Martha Spitler, of Las Vegas, Nevada; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Moline, Kansas area. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Army. He and Zoe made their home in the Moline, Kansas area and in Topeka, Kansas, for several years, before moving to Conway, Missouri, in 1987. Bob began a career with the Lebanon R-III Schools shortly after moving to Conway, and first worked as a custodian at Donnelly Elementary School and then at Esther Elementary School.
Bob professed his faith in Christ and was baptized in 1957, as a member of the Church of Christ. Since moving to the Conway community, he had attended the South Five Church of Christ in Lebanon and Conway Church of Christ.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting and fishing. He also was an avid reader and liked driving his tractor around his property. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed following his grandchildren’s sporting activities.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them throughout the years.
