John Schleifer's Obituary
John Michael Schleifer, age 37 of Springfield, MO passed away Sunday evening at 8:15 PM on his family’s farm near Halfway after an accidental gunshot wound hunting accident. John was born in Springfield, MO the son of James Phildon Schleifer and Carol Marie (Ratcliff) Schleifer. He was currently employed by the Crown Distributing Co. in Springfield as a route delivery man. He previously worked for the Pepsi and Coca Cola distributors. John’s passion was hunting, fishing, & music. He loved his work and “lived” to deliver Pop to his many customers. He never met a stranger. John dreamed of teaching his two nephews how to hunt and fish and loved them as if they were his own. John might have resided in Springfield, but his heart was in the Van Community He was preceded in death by a daughter, Scarlett Schleifer and his grandparents. Surviving is his parents, Phil & Carol Schleifer of Halfway, MO; his sister, Stacy Allen and husband Curt of Pleasant Hope, MO; two nephews, Chase and Cole Allen, his maternal grandmother, Marie Ratcliff of Halfway, MO; his uncle and aunt, Mike and Sharlanda Schleifer of Pleasant Hope, MO; and uncle and aunt, Donald and Reva Bybee of Halfway, MO., Two cousins, Lisa and Terry Moore of Polk and Matthew and Tracy Forrest of Halfway; and a COUNTLESS number of friends. Visitation will held on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 10:00 AM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dennis Gromer officiating. Burial will be in the Slagle Cemetery south of Bolivar under the direction and care of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Casketbearers will be Matthew Forrest, Pat McCoy, Larry McCarthy, Curt Allen, Joe Nottingham, and Greg Gould.
