John Spiegel (Bolivar)'s Obituary
John B. Spiegel, 75, of Bolivar died peacefully, Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar.
He was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert and Jean Spiegel, the youngest of two sons.
In the spring of 1962, he married the love of his life Carolyn R. Hosack in Kansas City. They moved to Warrensburg where he finished his education at Central Missouri State College and graduated in 1964 with a B.S.in education. His education carried him to Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota and finally to Bolivar.
While in Iowa he attended the University of Northern Iowa where he graduated with a Masters Degree plus extra hours, in education. This enabled him to be not only a teacher but a principal and a superintendent. They moved to Bolivar in 1992, where he taught 3rd and 4th grade in the Bolivar School system. John always wanted to be a teacher from the time he was in high school.
John and Carolyn welcomed four children into their lives as well as numerous foster children. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jerry. He is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Carolyn, two sons Jake and wife Denise; John and wife Katherine; two daughters, Deb and husband Mike Fisher; and Michelle and husband Bob Kurtz. Four granddaughters, Devin, Ashley, Alison, and Amanda and two grandsons, Rick and Drew, and one great-grandson, Ryen and foster daughter, Tammy Loffland.
