John Street (Lebanon)'s Obituary
John Wesley Street, son of Hugh Homer and Gertha Edith Nunn Street, was born October 6, 1933, in Laclede County, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, May 14, 2016, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, seven months, and eight days.
In 1956, in Whittier, California, he was united in marriage to Joan Elizabeth Emery, and to this union one daughter, Jannalee, was born. Joan passed away in 1957.
In April of 1960, in Laclede County, Missouri, John married Bettie Ann Lyon, and to this union three children were born, John Wesley, Deborah Ann, and Jeffrey Wayne. John and Bettie divorced in 1998.
On September 4, 2004, he was married to Dorothy Faye Wilkins Anderson, in Laclede County, Missouri, and they shared the last twelve years.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jerrell Dean, Harold Lee, and Charles Robert Street; and three sisters, Mildred Louise Mannell, Norma Jean Grendahl, and Betty Catherine Evans.
John is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; his children, Janalee Lowery, and her husband, Michael, of Vancouver, Washington, John Wesley Street, of St. Louis, Missouri, Deborah Ann Sisson, and her husband, Kevin, of Bethel, Missouri, and Jeffrey Wayne Street, of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, Keith Robert Sisson, Robyn Ann Sisson, Ronald Levi Street, and Kaitlin Nichole Street; three great-grandchildren, Maggie Rose Sisson, Kendall Robert Sisson, and Naomi Keylei Barry; four brothers, Loyd Ray Street, James Robert Street, both of Lebanon, Missouri, Larry Eugene Street, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Donald Wayne Street, of Greenridge, Missouri; two sisters, Patricia Ann Mizer, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Thelma Jane Hibbard, of Alamogordo, New Mexico; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri. He entered the military at a young age, and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He took his basic training at the naval base in San Diego, California during the early 1950’s, and served on the USS Titania. He was also stationed in Guam for part of hisfour years in the Navy. In 1956, he married Joan, in Whittier, California, and when she passed away in 1957, he brought their baby girl, Janalee, back home to Missouri so his mother could help raise her. After he and Bettie were married, they made their home in the Kansas City area, while John worked for the Owens Corning Company. In 1968, the family moved to Harvester, Missouri, and John went to work for Jefferson Smurfit in St. Charles County, Missouri. In 1999, he retired and moved bak to Laclede County, Missouri.
John attended Emmanuel Chapel as a child and accepted Christ as his Savior on August 27, 2004.
He was an active member of St. Louis Bowhunters and had won several tournaments and received many trophies for his expert archery skills, including a State Championship. John loved his family and while living away from the Lebanon area, he would drive back home to Laclede County often to visit his parents and siblings. He spent many weekends hunting or fishing around the Ozark hills and hollers. He also liked to take his children camping, which usually centered around either hunting or fishing. He loved to hunt for Indian Artifacts with his children and siblings. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-two years.
