John Ellis Swearengin (Buffalo)'s Obituary
John Ellis Swearengin, 90, was born on January 10, 1929 on the family farm in Theodosia, MO to George E. & Cora Swearengin. He departed this life on September 18, 2019 at his home near Buffalo, MO surrounded by his family.
John graduated from Gainesville High School in 1947. After graduation, he continued to help on the family farm until being drafted into the United States Army in 1951 during the Korean War. After serving in Japan, John returned to Missouri where he took up construction in the Kansas City area.
John and Lois were married on October 4, 1971. Lois brought four children to the marriage, and to their union one son, George, was added. John and Lois built a life together in Buffalo, where John helped support the family as a trucker until retirement at the age of 77. He then filled his days with his lifelong loves; fishing, auctions, and swap meets.
John is survived by his wife Lois of the home; his son, George of Springfield, MO; granddaughters, Kayla & Lexi of Springfield, MO; special nephew, Monty & sister-in-law Darlene of Halfway, MO; four step-children; seven step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, other family members and many friends who will all truly miss him.
Cremation rites were accorded under the care and direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
