John Vieth (Bolivar)'s Obituary
John Charles Vieth, age 80, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Research Medical Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born May 2, 1942 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Willard and Mary Vieth. John married the love of his life, Jana (Butler) Vieth, on June 27, 1997, and they were blessed with 25 wonderful years of marriage.
After graduation from Nevada High School, John attended Southern Methodist University and graduated January 19, 1965, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in accounting.
John was in the U.S. Navy for 10 years. He loved flying and was a jet pilot on aircraft carriers. His first aircraft carrier was the USS Coral Sea, and his unit was squadron VA86. After the Navy, he worked at Farm and Home Savings in Houston Texas. He ended his banking career as President of Stone County National Bank in Branson West, Missouri.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Mary Vieth, and his in-laws, Bob and Alice Butler. He is survived by his wife, Jana; daughter, Mary Jane Marshall and her husband Ed of Huffman Texas, his son, Derek Vieth of Grapevine, Texas, and stepdaughter, Sarah Gorman of Springfield, Missouri. He was blessed with six grandchildren; Taeler Marshall Hoover and husband Zac, Alexandria Vieth, Garret Marshall, Zachariah Vieth, Benjamin Vieth, and Lizette Vieth, all of Texas; sister Kathy Vieth of Denver, Colorado and brother-in-law, Brent Butler of Bolivar, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends who were like family to him.
John was kind, loving, caring, and compassionate. He was a loyal friend who liked to take care of people. He loved animals and he had an amazing sense of humor and quick wit. John was a lifelong learner, and he was a great storyteller. He had traveled extensively and had so many fascinating stories. He will be missed more than words can say.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John’s name to the Polk County Humane Society.
