John Wilkerson (Seymour)'s Obituary
John David Wilkerson, son of David Lee Wilkerson and Carole Sue Parmalee-Wilkerson, was born January 9, 1963 in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life surrounded by his family on Monday, May 27, 2013 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty years, four months and eighteen days.
Raised in the Seymour area, John loved to roam the Ozarks hills hunting mushrooms and deer. He graduated from Wheatland High School in 1980. He took his love of working with his hands and became a carpenter, a member of the Local Union 978, building many of the homes and business in the area. On November 2, 1990, he married Cindy Young and together they were blessed with three sons and one daughter.
He is preceded in death by his brother Herschel Wilkerson; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his Uncle Dean Wilkerson.

John accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and humbly answered God’s call to the ministry. He was a member at the Harmony Freewill Baptist Church and the C.M.A. (Christian Motorcycle Association). He served his Lord, his neighbors and his family with unconditional love. Even though his path lead John down trouble times he never forgot his faith and in his last days, made peace with his Lord.
He loved life and lived to it the fullest. Enjoying the simple things of life and finding blessings in the little things. John had several hobbies and was always willing to give it a try. He leaves a legacy behind for his family, to laugh often, love much and to rest in the Lord.
John Wilkerson was a loving husband, a caring son, a devoted father and grandfather, brother, uncle, a good neighbor and a true friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments, and even though we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in the truth that one day we will meet again.
