He departed this life Sunday, January 4, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, eleven months, and five days. On February 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Janey Kathryn Robinson, and to this union one son was born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ross Light; and a sister, Colleen Brackett. Johnny is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Janey Kathryn, of the home; a son, Kim Light, and his wife, Kathy, of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandchildren, Brett and Ashton Light; two brothers, Kenneth Light, of Eaton, Indiana, and Freeman Light, of Kansas City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Oakland community, and graduated from Lebanon High School. He started working for Mid-America Dairy in Lebanon and then was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the military, he returned to the Lebanon area and he and Janey lovingly raised their son. In addition to working at Mid-America Dairy for over forty-two years, he also owned and operated a cattle farm. Johnny made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Oakland. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and taking care of his dog, and also liked watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. His family was always the most important part of his life and he greatly enjoyed his grandchildren. Johnny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend.
