Johnny W. Williams (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Johnny Wallace Williams was born September 27, 1937 in Competition, Missouri to Elva and Cleda Nunn Williams. He passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025 in his home in Lebanon, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven years, eight months and nineteen days.
He was raised in the Competition and Russ communities alongside his eight brothers and sisters. On December 23, 1960, he was united in marriage to his true love and best friend, Barbara Starnes. They have been devoted to each other for over sixty-four years.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Elva and Cleda Williams; his son, Johnny W. Williams, Jr.; his brothers, Woodrow, LaVern, Bill, Howard and Bob; two sisters, Bessie Ellis and Kathryn Zimmerman, and an infant sister.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of the home; his daughter, Sherry Hicks and her partner Brent Goans of Lebanon, Missouri; one granddaughter, Hannah Walters and her husband Zachary; one great-granddaughter, Lorelai; and one brother, Edward Williams of Lebanon, Missouri.
Johnny had a forty year career with Independent Stave Company. He was a hard worker and following his retirement, Johnny drove cars for Alvin Jackson. He also had a lawn care service business and cut and sold firewood.
Johnny was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lebanon before attending to Grace Baptist Church.
He enjoyed watching football as well as other sports. He also liked hunting and fishing when he had the chance.
Above all, Johnny was a devoted husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he took great joy in creating lasting memories with them.
Johnny was a good, honorable man who loved and trusted God, worked hard and always tried to do the right thing. His passing is sad for his family and friends, but they rejoice in his homecoming where he is with his savior, his parents and other family members.
Service for Johnny Williams will be Wednesday, June 18 at 2 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park.
A memorial to St. Jude Hospital or Grace Baptist Church has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
