Johny Cantrell, Sr. (Seymour)'s Obituary
Johny Obe Cantrell, Sr., son of Robert Roy and Sarah Josephine Young Cantrell, was born September 24, 1932, in Seymour, Missouri, and departed this life on June 12, 2016, in Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, eight months, and eighteen days.
John was united in marriage to Eunice Jean Townlian on August 10, 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Johny Obe Cantrell, Jr.; grandson, Johny Obe Cantrell, III; sister, Velda Wright; sister-in-law, Emma Gene Cantrell; three nephews and two nieces. John is survived by his wife, Eunice, of home; three daughters, Bonnie Sue Goller of New Cuyama, California; Angela Zimmermann and husband, Chris, of Visalia, California; Sherrie Mingle and husband, Mike, of Lompoc, California; two sons, Robert Cantrell and wife, Andrea, of Santa Ynez, California; Gene Cantrell and wife, Andrea, of Santa Maria, California; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three brothers, Roy Cantrell and wife, Arneta, of Seymour, Missouri; Bill Cantrell of Seymour; LD Cantrell and wife, Mary, of Monett, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. John was born and raised in Seymour and was a graduate of Seymour High School in the Class of 1950. Just a few days after graduating, he entered the United States Air Force where he served his country faithfully and travelled the world, for 20 years, retiring in 1970. After his military career, he started a communications business selling and servicing business band radios and equipment from 1970 until 2005. John had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Seymour First Baptist Church. John was also a Mason and a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Webster County Veterans Memorial Team, and served the City of Seymour as an alderman for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, building computers and tinkering with electronics. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his service to our country and will cherish the memories of the loving and cantankerous man he was.
