Joleen Burris (Hartville)'s Obituary
Patty Joleen Burris, daughter of Floyd and Lillian Humphreys White, was born April 7, 1940, in her home in Wright County, Missouri. She was taken into the Lord’s care on April 26, 2018, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years.
Joleen made a profession of faith in Christ at a young age and was a lifetime member of the Claxton Church of Christ. The friendships she made with members of her church family were very important to her and she treasured each and every one of them.
Joleen attended Mt. Olive elementary school and graduated from Hartville High School in 1958. She then married James Hake and had three sons. She later married Dennis Lyons and had one son. On February 14, 1984 Joleen married Jerry Burris and was married until Jerry’s passing in October, 2017.
Joleen worked as a banquet manager organizing many different receptions and business events. After she moved to Hartville, she worked for Town and Country Supermarket and eventually retired from the grocery store. However, that was hardly the hardest thing she had to do in her life. Joleen raised her four sons mostly by herself and her world revolved around them just to make sure they were brought up right. She knew the importance of hard work and instilled that into her four boys as best as she could.
When Joleen wasn’t working, she enjoyed playing cards, sewing, cross-stitching, and cooking for her family. She also helped Jerry out on the farm with whatever Jerry would let her do. However, none of these came close to what Joleen loved the most, spending time with her family, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She made sure that she was at every event that her grandkids and great-grandkids had.
Joleen is survived by her four boys, Ron Hake and his wife Debbie, of Ozark, Missouri, David Hake and his wife Eileen, of Jones, Oklahoma, Patrick Hake and his wife Sherrie, of Ozark, Missouri, and Daniel Lyons and his wife Shelly, of Republic, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Stefanie Wade and her husband Josh, of Willard, Missouri, Mandi Crites and her husband Ryan, of Bolivar, Missouri, Josh Hake of Tucson Arizona, Kylie Hake of Tucson, Arizona, Grant Lyons of Republic, Missouri, Miranda Hake of Ozark, Missouri, and Kayla Lyons, of Republic, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Hoyt, Morgan, Holden, and Brayden; one brother, Junior White and his wife Sharon, of Camdenton Missouri; two sisters; Melba Claxton and her husband Jim and Gwen Hogan and her husband Lavon, both of Lebanon, Missouri; two step-children, Mike Burris and his wife Leslie, of Hartville, Missouri and Cathy Easton and her husband Michael, of Springfield, Missouri; and a number of step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many caring friends.
Joleen is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Lillian White and her loving husband Jerry Burris.
Joleen was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and caring friend. She loved her family dearly and cherished every moment she spent with them. We celebrate her wonderful life full of joy and love and we will always cherish the many happy memories that she created with us.
