Jose A Matus (Seymour)'s Obituary
Jose Antonio Matus, age 65 of Seymour, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri following a lingering illness. He was born Monday, April 9, 1951 in Belize, Central America to Jose Antonio Matus and Francisca Bernarda Gonzales. He was raised in Belize, graduated high school there and had become a fisherman there before moving to Seymour in 1990. He graduated from Arcadia College in California. Jose and his family owned and operated LJ’s Mexican Restaurant on the east side of the square and then he became an over the road truck driver, a job he enjoyed and had visited all 50 states. Jose enjoyed his grandchildren so much and taking his wife on long drives around the countryside. He was proud of his lawn and enjoyed tending it.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jose is survived by his wife Lilia of the home; 3 sons, Michael Matus of Kansas City, Missouri, Mark Matus and wife Lisa Matus of Nixa, Missouri and Joseph Matus and girlfriend Stephanie Nichols of Seymour, Missouri; 4 sisters Arlene McCormick and husband Jerry and Enid Guagliardo all of Diggins, Missouri, Marie Fisher and husband J.R. of Seymour, Missouri and Laura Martin and husband Ross of Springfield, Missouri; 4 brothers Francisco Reyes and wife Maura of Atco, New Jersey and Manuel Reyes and wife Sherry of Brown Mills, New Jersey, Juan Reyes and wife Camille of Seymour, Missouri and David Reyes and wife Chan of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren Sophia Matus and Oliver Matus of Nixa, Missouri and Jaden Nichols of Seymour, Missouri; a special niece Jacqueline Ely and husband Don of Hartville, Missouri and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
