Joseph Boner's Obituary
Joseph Jack Boner, son of James Henry and Martha Frances Wilkins Boner, was born April 30, 1924, in Johnston City, Illinois. He departed this life Friday, September 11, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, four months, and eleven days. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Thomas and Kenneth Boner. Jack is survived by two daughters, Donna Riffle, and her husband, Timothy, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Lynn Diane Euliano, and her husband, Steve, of Atlanta, Georgia; a son, Daniel Wayne Boner, and his wife, Jennifer, of Austin, Texas; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Louise Huseby, of Stayton, Oregon; the mother of his children and a good friend, Lois Boner, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Johnston County, Illinois area. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army from March 5, 1943 until January 4, 1946, during World War II. He received three Bronze Stars for the Bismarck Archipelago, Luzon, and South Philippines Campaigns, and was also awarded the Purple Heart for meritorious service. After being honorably discharged from the military, he returned to the Chicago area and began working in the manufacturing industry. On January 15, 1952, he married Lois Cregor, and they lovingly raised their family. Jack continued to work in various capacities for several different companies including Union Carbide, and also worked in the hardware business. In 1982, after Jack retired, the family moved to Phillipsburg, Missouri. Jack had a deep, abiding belief in God and followed the Christian faith. He was a compassionate person who was always willing to help others. In his spare time he particularly enjoyed cooking, working around the house, and was able to fix almost anything that needed to be repaired. He also liked to go camping, and to watch baseball games. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and all that he accomplished and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday September 15, 2009 at the Mt. Rose Memorial Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will be in Veterans' Park at Mt. Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday evening 7-8:30pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
