Joseph W. Folck (Hartville)'s Obituary
Joseph Wherry “Joe” Folck III, son of Joseph W. II and Alleen Hensley Boyce Folck, was born March 22, 1944 in Wamego, Kansas. He departed this life Monday, March 3, 2014 in his home, Grovespring, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years, eleven months, and nine days.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, of the home; a son, Michael Joseph Folck, of Denver, Colorado; sisters, Betty Billings and husband Bradley, and Nancy Stephenson, and husband, Al, all of Mansfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Dustin Folck, Rudy Valdez, and Gabriale Valdez, all of Denver, Colorado; a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Joe spent his younger years living in Colorado and Oregon. He entered into the United States Army on June 30, 1961 and faithfully served his country until being honorably discharged on June 22, 1964.
Joe was saved and baptized when he was twenty-five years old, and met the “Joy of his life” at that time. They were married a few months later in 1970. Their son, Michael, was born three years later.
In 1976, the family moved from Omaha, Nebraska to Denver, Colorado. They enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and four wheeling with friends. Joe enjoyed people and could relate with almost everyone he met.
He was a mechanic with many skills, designing and building tools to make work and everyday life easier. He worked for Celestial Seasonings Herbal Tea Company from 1978 until his retirement in 2005.
Joe and Joy moved to Grovespring, Missouri when he retired. They joined Elk Creek Baptist Church, becoming active members. Joe was ordained a Deacon on July 15, 2007.
During his nine years of retirement, he was able to do what he enjoyed. This included driving veterans to medical appointments, improving the house, “tinkering” in the garage, teaching Sunday school, and concealed-carry classes, and being a volunteer fireman and first responder. He was very proud when he passed Fireman I and II classes at the age of 65.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he created for his family and many dear friends.
Memorial contributions to Grovespring Fire Department or Paralyzed Veterans of America, may be made through the funeral home.
