Joseph "Joe" Rich McCulloch (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Joseph Rich McCulloch, son of Ray O. and Ella Rich McCulloch, was born April 19, 1936, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, April 13, 2017, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, eleven months, and twenty-four days.
On October 14, 1961, he was united in marriage to Sharon Rose Hendry and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon, on June 18, 2014; three brothers, Jack, Michael and Mathias McCulloch; and two sisters, Mary Young, and Margaret Kay.
Joe is survived by a daughter, Sarah Gresty, and her husband, Brian, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Dan McCulloch, and his wife, Debbie, of Lebanon, Missouri, Jim McCulloch, and his wife, Nicole, of Ozark, Missouri, and Tom McCulloch, and his wife, Kristy, of Lebanon, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Matthew Joseph, Megan, Mathew Michael, Cody, Ashley, Emily, Regan, Ella, and Juniper; two great-grandchildren, Memphis and Ava; three brothers, Albert McCulloch, and his wife, Joyce, of Lebanon, Missouri, Kenneth McCulloch, and his wife, Dell, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and John McCulloch, and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Wichita, Kansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area. He then joined the military as a young man, and served his country faithfully in the United States Army from June 23, 1953 until June 22, 1956. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Lebanon, and began working in construction. After he and Sharon were married, they made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their children. Joe worked as a heavy equipment operator for several different construction companies and then was employed as a construction engineer for Koss Construction Company for the last twenty years. He loved his work and enjoyed the challenges each project offered.
Joe was a lifelong member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Lebanon.
He liked being outdoors where he enjoyed fishing and working on his lawn. He was an expert grill master and liked fixing steaks and other items for his family and friends. He also enjoyed visiting with his friends at the coffee shop most every morning. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed having his grandchildren and great-grandchildren around him.
Joe was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
