Subject: Inquiry About Joseph "Joe" Spear
Dear Family Member’s,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Josephine Spear, and I am reaching out regarding Joseph "Joe" Spear, who I believe is my biological father. My mother, Ceferina Ilustre, met Joseph Spear in Subic Bay, Philippines, in 1966, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Annapolis (AGMR-1).
According to my mother, Joseph was a radio operator on the ship. They developed a close relationship during his time in Subic Bay, and shortly after, she found out that she was pregnant with me. I was born on December 26, although my exact birth year is uncertain—it could have been 1968 or 1969.
My mother remembers that Joseph had a sister named Betty Drool, who was living in Seattle, Washington, and that his mother resided in Connecticut. These are the only additional details she could recall, but she spoke fondly of Joseph and the brief time they had together.
I recently found Joseph’s obituary online and believe he may be the same person my mother spoke of. I am writing with great respect and sensitivity, as I do not wish to intrude on your lives. My only intention is to learn more about my roots, my biological father, and potentially connect with my extended family.
If any of this information feels familiar to you, or if you’re open to discussing this further, I would deeply appreciate hearing from you. Please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]. I would also be happy to provide additional details or answer any questions.
Thank you for taking the time to read my message. I sincerely appreciate your understanding and kindness, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Josephine Spear
