Joseph Evan Peters (Seymour)'s Obituary
Joseph Evan Peters was born on July 8, 1933 to Herbert Peters and Chloe (Snelson) Peters in Seymour, Missouri. He was taken into the Lord’s care early Tuesday morning, November 15, 2016 at his home in Seymour, at the age of eighty-three years, four months, and seven days.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandchild, Hayley Jo Burks.
Joseph is survived by his wife Beverly, of the home; a daughter, Kathy Smith and her husband Jackie of Seymour; a son, Joe Bill Peters of Seymour; five grandchildren, Jeff Smith, Jennifer Burks, Sara Warren, Andrew Peters, and Cassidy Peters; eight great-grandchildren, Tayton Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Turner Thompson, Shea Peters, Simon Peters, Andrew Burks, and Brie and Arie Warren; and many friends.
Joseph was born and raised in Seymour and graduated from Seymour High School in 1951. Shortly after graduating he married the love of his life, Beverly and they would spend the next 64 years together while raising a family with two children. Joseph was baptized and saved at a young age and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seymour. Joseph started off working in a body shop as a body man and then later became a welder in Springfield. Joseph eventually started working for the United States Postal Service as a clerk and later as an assistant Post Master at the Seymour Post Office and spent the next thirty years working for the Postal Service until he retired.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, wood working, flying, collecting arrowheads, and loved working in his garden. Of course, none of these even came close to spending time with his wonderful family.
Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will always cherish the many happy memories he created.
Memorial contributions may be made to honor Joe to either St. Jude’s Hospital or the Humane Society or animal care group of your choice and left at the funeral home.
