Joseph Warren Shank (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Joseph Warren Shank, son of Eli and Carrie Emerson Shank, was born March 9, 1930, near Phillipsburg, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, November 19, 2015, in Buffalo Prairie Care Center, in Buffalo, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, eight months, and ten days.
Early in his life, he was united in marriage to Betty Joan Reaves, and to this union two daughters were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan, on April 28, 1974; two daughters, Cheryl Wrinkle, and an infant; a brother, Walter Shank; four half-brothers, Finis, Press, Virgil, and Hayden; and six half-sisters, Carrie, Margarete, Minnie, Mable, Berniece, and Geneva.
Warren is survived by two grandsons, Rickie Nunn, and his wife, Rachel, of Elkland, Missouri, and Aaron Wrinkle, of Lebanon, Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Payton, Nevyn, McKenzie, Thomas, and Tasha; a sister, Jean Williams, of the State of California; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Phillipsburg community and graduated from Phillipsburg High School. He then served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He returned home with an honorable discharge and he and Joan were soon married and made their home in the Lebanon area where they lovingly raised their family. In April of 2011,Warren became disabled and worked in farming and also did various other types of jobs throughout the years.
Warren followed the Baptist faith throughout his life.
He was a member of the Mason Lodge for a number of years. In his spare time he liked fishing, hunting, and dancing. He was a free spirit and greatly enjoyed wearing his overalls. His family was important to him and he enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and great-grandchildren.
Warren was a loving grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.
