Josephine Gannon (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Josephine Anna Turner Gannon, daughter of Otis Lloyd Turner, Sr. and Zula C. Wills Turner, was born October 5, 1922, in Phillipsburg, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, March 28, 2011, in Magnolia Square, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, five months, and twenty-three days.
On January 3, 1943, she was united in marriage to Asa Glen Gannon, and to this union two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Asa, on January 7, 1945, during World War II; and three brothers, Worley, Otis Lloyd, Jr., and Henry Turner.
Josephine is survived by two sons, Stanley Gannon, and his wife, Yurong, of Buffalo, Missouri, and Edwin Floyd Gannon, of Sarasota, Florida; four grandchildren, Adam, Angela, Robin, and Keith; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Palmer, and her husband, Douley, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Phillipsburg area and graduated from Phillipsburg High School in the Class of 1941. She then made her home in the Lebanon area for the next several years, while lovingly raising her sons. In 1958, she moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she worked for Dr. Kimball and Dr. Temple for several years. Later, she worked in the office of the regional manager for State Farm Insurance in Springfield. After retiring, she continued to make her home in Springfield.
Josephine had professed her faith in Christ and was a member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed caring for her home, cooking, gardening, and sewing, as she was an excellent seamstress. She also liked watching old movies, and sentimentally longed for things as they were in her earlier years. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Josephine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
