Josephine Northrip, daughter of Prince Albert and Jimmie Stafford Love, was born May 7, 1925, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She departed this life Thursday, November 15, 2012, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, six months, and eight days.
On July 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Floyd Alvin Northrip, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd, on November 10, 2005; two sons, Roy and Clark Northrip; a grandson, Kanoni Northrip; a great-grandson, Caylan Garner; a brother, Larry Love; and a sister, Maxine Wasmer.
Josephine is survived by a son, Rodney Northrip, and his wife, Linda, of Stoutland, Missouri; a daughter, Rhonda Ann Northrip, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Kesha, Kashena, Kimberly, Floyd Lee, Laura, Sherri, and Christina; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley McDonough, of Alton, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born in Oklahoma, and lived in various places as her father was a steelworker. She graduated from Stoutland High School in 1944, and then taught school for a few years. During World War II, she worked in a hypodermic needle factory. After she and Floyd were married, they made their home all over the country while Floyd worked in construction. Throughout those years, Josephine was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. They eventually made their home in the Lebanon area, and Josephine was a civil service worker at Fort Leonard Wood, where she was a secretary in the passport department.
In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, sewing, growing beautiful flowers, and gardening. Her favorite hobby was breeding Pekinese dogs. After retiring, she and Floyd liked to travel in their RV and also enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing. She loved her family dearly, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Josephine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.
