Josephine Scott's Obituary
osephine Harper Scott, daughter of Charles Wesley and Armilda Judd Harper, was born March 22, 1913, near Greenfield, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-five years, two months, and three days. On September 23, 1933, in Carthage, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Claude J. Scott, and to this union two daughters and one son were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude, on March 3, 1984; her son, C.J. Scott, in 2003; a great-granddaughter, Kobie Ann Gochenour; a step-great-grandson, Joshua Neusche; a son-in-law, Al Neusche; four brothers, Orville, John, William and Lee Harper; and six sisters, Eliza Leeper, Ethel Jones, Lena Reed, Elsie Wood, Florence Harper, and Vida Hendricks. Josephine is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Woody, and her husband, Clyde, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Kay Neusche, of Montreal, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Leigh Ann Woody, Lisa Hildebrand, Lori Admire, Steve Scott, Cindy Lammers, Cathy Gochenour, Brenda Danuser, Janet Lawrence, Teresa Arnone, and Michael Jones; a step-grandson, Mark Neusche; nine great-grandchildren, Keyton, Morgan, Clayton, Beth, Scott, Amanda, Courtney, Chad, and Mekahlia; a step-great-grandson, Jake; three great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was raised in the Ash Grove community and graduated from Ash Grove High School. After she and Claude were married, they made their home on a farm near Everton, Missouri. In 1950, they moved to Richland, Missouri, and lovingly finished raising their family. Josephine was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family and also did volunteer work with the Red Cross for twenty-eight years. In 1999, she moved to Boonville, Missouri and then made her home in Lebanon for the last several years. Josephine was saved at the age of twelve in Center Baptist Church, and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Richland. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, working in her yard and growing beautiful flowers. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her daughters and grandchildren. Her family was very important to her and she centered her life around them and her church. Josephine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at the Ray Spring Cemetery, near Everton, Missouri. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
