On July 9, 1976, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, she was united in marriage to Ray Stanton, and together they shared twenty-six years before his passing on December 22, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John Simpson, and his wife, Nadine, Otto Simpson, and his wife, Grace, and Owen Simpson, and his wife, Lucille; a sister, Myrtle Simpson Hamilton, and her husband, Oris; a brother-in-law, George Bond; and one niece and four nephews. Josephine is survived by two sisters, Mary Simpson Pearson, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Chloe Simpson Bond, of Richland, Missouri; two step-daughters, Janet Saltzman, and her husband, Junior, of the State of Indiana, and Judy Lubben, and her husband, Doug, of the State of Arizona; several nieces and nephews; two special friends, Stacey Shook, of Branson, Missouri, and Ray Vibbard, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Orla community and lived most of her teen years in the Lebanon area. She soon made her home in Kansas City where she worked at Union Station for awhile. After World War II, she got a job at the Bendix Corporation, and worked there until retiring. After marrying Ray, they enjoyed their retirement years together traveling and camping across the country in their RV. For the last few years, she had made her home in Lebanon to be closer to her family. Throughout the years, Jo, as she was often called by her family and friends, was a devoted homemaker and loved caring for her home. Early in her life, she made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lebanon. Later, she attended service in Kansas City. She was a very talented person who enjoyed doing knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint and craft projects. She also was an excellent seamstress and an avid reader. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her nieces and nephews. Jo will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Wed. August 27, 2008 at Mt. Rose Memorial Park.
