Joyce 's Obituary
Joyce Ann Vinson, daughter of Robert Louis Sr. and Hazel Beda Wilcox Clark, was born October 24, 1942, in Mansfield, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, June 23, 2007, in her home, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, seven months, and twenty-nine days. She was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts. Joyce is survived by a daughter, Regina Lansdown, and her husband, Kenny, of Seymour, Missouri; a son, John Vinson, of Fordland, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jamey Lansdown, and his wife, Redenna, Wytney Lansdown, all of Seymour, Missouri, and Matthew Vinson, of Fordland, Missouri; two brothers, R.L. Clark, and his wife, Janette, and Roddy Clark, and his wife, Teresa, all of Mansfield, Missouri; four sisters, Roberta Shank, and her husband, Carlton, of Vandalia, Ohio, Susie Choate, Gwen Oberbeck, and her husband, Fred, all of Mansfield, Missouri, and Virginia Kelley, of Springfield, Missouri; an aunt, Madge Matlock, and her husband, Loman, of Mansfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was born and raised in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1960. Then in 1963 she moved to Joplin to work for Joplin Public Schools until moving back to Mansfield in 1976. She then worked for Mercy Hospital, Mimosa Restaurant, Clark Drilling, Bank of Mansfield, and First Home Savings Bank in Mountain Grove, where she retired two years ago as a loan officer. Joyce had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mansfield. She was the first female to serve on the Mansfield School Board and as Mayor of Mansfield. She enjoyed doing volunteer work for Relay for Life and many other charitable events. Her family was very important to her and she loved taking care of them and spending time with her friends. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, Newborns in Need or the Wright County Children's Home may be made through the funeral home.
