Joyce Maxine Waterman (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Joyce Maxine Waterman, daughter of E. L. “Lynn” and Rita Jo Bookout Libby, was born February 6, 1940, in Camdenton, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, April 22, 2021, in her home, near Eldridge, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, two months, and sixteen days.
On July 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to Donald Lew Vaughn Waterman, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, on September 19, 2011; a brother, Ray Libby; and two sisters, Brenda Saxton and Suzi Villela.
Joyce is survived by two daughters, Tami Waterman, and Tracy Dampier, and her husband, Steve, all of Eldridge, Missouri; a son, Terry Waterman, of Eldridge, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Austin, Megan, Sarah, Joe, Josh, Kayla, and Freddie; ten great-grandchildren, Will, Saxton, Allie, Jacob, Kaya, Hudson, Hayes, Harrison, Makayla, and Michael; two brothers, Joe Libby, of Climax Springs, Missouri, and Rance Libby, of Montreal, Missouri; four sisters, Jeanne Smith, of Osage Beach, Missouri, Beth Seim, of Jefferson City, Missouri, Sally Funk, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Rita Kay Nichols, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Camdenton, Missouri area and attended Camdenton Schools. After she and Donald were married, they lived in Colorado and California before making their home in the Eldridge, Missouri area. Through the years, Joyce was a devoted homemaker to her family and was a supportive minister’s wife. She had also worked for the H. D. Lee Company, Lowe Boats, Justice Furniture and Quilt Makers at different times. Making quilts was her expertise and she enjoyed the craft and detail work of it and liked teaching others her skills. She was well known for her quilting and she was always willing to answer questions and give help to those that asked.
Joyce had made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and had a deep abiding faith in God. She was a member of Eldridge Full Gospel Church, and then was a founding member of Cornerstone Full Gospel Church. Later, she was active in the Trinity Full Gospel Church, where she served as a Deacon.
She had served on the Board of Directors of Hufft Cemetery and Eldridge Schools. She enjoyed raising and showing Missouri Fox Trotter Horses for many years. She loved to travel, go antiquing, and visiting thrift stores. Recently, she had made hundreds of Covid Virus protective face masks and had distributed many to medical facilities and other places. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
