Juanita Ivey's Obituary
Juanita Margaret Ivey was born February 18, 1918, near Tunas, Missouri, and departed this life Sunday, January 30, 2011, in St. John?s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-two years, eleven months, and twelve days.
On February 28, 1956, she was united in marriage to George Wilbur Ivey, and together they shared forty-nine years before his passing on March 7, 2005.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Grady Johnson; and two sisters, Joy Ockerman, and Buena Zierer.
Juanita is survived by a brother, Duard Johnson, and his wife, Barbara, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Annie Vandenberg, of Buffalo, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Buffalo, Missouri area and graduated from Tunas High School. She attended nursing school in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, receiving her Licensed Practical Nursing certificate in 1941. She then returned to Lebanon, where she worked for the Laclede County Health Department for several years. After she and George were married, they made their home in Lebanon and Eldon. Together they owned and operated Ivey Oil Companies and Juanita worked as the secretary and bookkeeper for the business.
She was a very easy going person with a keen sense of humor, and possessed a happy disposition. She enjoyed doing art work and painting and liked collecting crystal items. She also enjoyed listening to big band music.
Juanita was a loving sister and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.
