Juanita Lane's Obituary
Juanita Lane, daughter of Ira Vestal and Hulda Ann (Foster) Farr, was born January 4, 1921, in Seymour, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, seven months, and twenty-five days. On October 28, 1945, Juanita was united in marriage to Dwight Louis Lane and to this union two children were born. She and Dwight were married just over fifty-two wonderful years before his passing on January 14, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Juanita is survived by her children, Janice Shumate and her husband, Derald, of Springfield, Missouri, and Jerry Lane and his wife, Linda, of Republic, Missouri; four granddaughters, Lisa McReynolds and her husband, Tony, Dena Mayberry, Terri Helms and her husband, Jeff, and Carmen Hodson and her husband, David; ten great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; her loving sister, Louise Sloan and her husband, Robert, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; a special friend and neighbor, Vesta Kasterke, and her caregiver, Emma Overholt, both of Seymour, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Juanita grew up in Seymour where she graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of l939. She then attended State Teachers College in Springfield, Missouri, for two years and began her teaching career. She taught in the one-room rural schools of Davis, Bethel, Gentry, and New Hope. Following her marriage to Dwight, she decided to devote her time to being a full-time farm wife and homemaker to her family. She had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Diggins Baptist Church in Diggins, Missouri. Juanita was very devoted to God and her church and had served as church clerk and worked in Bible School for several years. She enjoyed all the activities and the fellowship with the congregation. In her spare time she took care of her garden, loved growing beautiful flowers, and entertaining and cooking for her family and friends. Juanita was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish all the precious memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday September 2, 2009 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday evening 6:30-7:30pm under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Diggins Baptist Church Building fund.
