Juanita Lankford's Obituary
Juanita P. Lankford, daughter of Anderson C. and Grace Brackley Hanna, was born July 29, 1912, near Long Lane, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, December 5, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-seven years, four months, and six days. On November 20, 1940, she was united in marriage to Paul Lankford, and they shared sixty-two years before his passing on December 5, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Phillip Sidney Ragland; a stepson, Paul V. Lankford; an infant grandson; a great-grandson, John Ragland; a daughter-in-law, Jonnie Ragland; five brothers, Clair, Irvin, Chester, Leslie and Jesse Hanna; and three sisters, Shirley Marlin, Violet Alsbach, and Dorothy Karr. Juanita is survived by two grandsons and their wives, Timothy and Tracey Ragland, and Charles and Tammy Ragland, all of the State of Georgia; two sisters, Margaret Marshall, and her husband, Felix, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Daisy Caselman, of Long Lane, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Long Lane community and received her education there. She continued to live in the Long Lane area for several years and was a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her family. After she and Paul were married, they made their home in California where they owned and operated a restaurant for many years. During this time they had the opportunity to make many friends through their business. Later, after retiring, they moved to the Phillipsburg community and made their home. Juanita made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of a Christian church in California. After moving to Phillipsburg, she transferred her membership to the Phillipsburg Christian Church where she faithfully attended as long as her health permitted. In her spare time she enjoyed working in her garden and cooking. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with her sisters. Juanita was a loving grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 8, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home.Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
