Judith Johnson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Judith Lynn Johnson, daughter of James L. and Pat Taylor Shelton, was born November 17, 1946, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, January 3, 2016, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years, one month, and sixteen days.
On July 20, 1965, she was united in marriage to Clifford D. Johnson, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Lisa Danette Johnson.
Judith is survived by her husband of fifty years, Clifford, of the home; two sons, Preston W. Johnson, and his wife, Kellie, of Spring Hill, Kansas, and Aaron Johnson, and his wife, Nickie, of Fair Grove, Missouri; a daughter, Rainey C. Johnson, of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Breckynne, Dillon, Aiden, and Piper; a sister, Vicki Shelton Manis, of Mission, Kansas; a half-brother, James Shelton, of the State of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon community, and was the first lady trumpet player in the Lebanon High School Band. She graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1964, and then attended Southwest Missouri State University for a year. After she and Clifford were married, they made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Judith was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family and also worked as a real estate agent for several years.
Judith had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lebanon. She greatly loved gospel music and played the piano, organ, and accordion.
She was an accomplished gospel singer and had her own gospel group with her father and sister. She had auditioned with the Wilburn Brothers Gospel group and was selected to be a vocalist for Dale Robertson. Besides her love for music, she also enjoyed reading, cooking, and following the children and grandchildren in their sporting events.
Judith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Memorial contributions may be made to St Judes Children's Hospital, and left at the funeral home.
