Judith Phelps (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Judith “Judy” Rae Phelps, daughter of the late Kenneth Phelps and Delthea (Nystrom), was born on January 31, 1954 in Hammond, IN, and departed this life on December 8, 2019 at her home in Long Lane, MO. At the time of her passing she was 65 years, 10 months, and 8 days of age.
Judith was raised in Hammond, IN and graduated from Bishop Noel High School. She met Gilbert Garcia and they began a long relationship and started a family having four children, all of whom survive her. She helped run a shoe shop for Gilbert for a short time, but mostly she was a homemaker taking care of their children and home. She enjoyed going to thrift stores, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, to the point she even named her beloved pug Cubbie.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dawn and Nancy; and four grandchildren, Lori Phelps, Jayden Phelps and twins, Gabryela and Izabella Phelps. She is survived by the father of her children Gilbert Garcia and her children, April Clark & Robert Beesley of Long Lane, MO, Christopher & wife Courtney Phelps of Republic, MO, Dexter Ferry of Washington, Gilberta Kime of Garber OK, Jennifer Phelps of Laquey MO; four brothers, Roger & wife Carla Nystrom of Long Lane, MO, Elmer Nystrom, Ernie Nystrom, and Cheyenne Nystrom all of Hammond IN; two sisters, Melody and husband Adalfo Deluna of Indiana and Eva of Montana; 25 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her.
Cremation rites were accorded under the care and direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo, MO.
