Julie Allmon's Obituary
Julie Bertha Allmon, daughter of James Edward and Katie (Posten) Hanger, was born September 8, 1925 in Van Buren, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, July 1, 2007 in Cox Walnut Lawn, Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-one years, nine months and twenty-three days. On January 3, 1942, Julie was united in marriage to Milton Elze Allmon and to this union six children were born. Together they shared fifty-six years, before Milton’s passing on October 10, 1998. Julie was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters, as well as one granddaughter, Kim Sartin. Julie is survived by her children, Jim Allmon and his wife, Betty, Jerry Allmon and his wife, Joann, Julie Williams and her husband, Larry, and Milton Allmon and his wife, Myrna, all of Seymour, Missouri, Rhonda Young and her husband, Marshall, of Fordland, Missouri, and Angie Todd and her fiancé, Randy Duckworth, of Seymour, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Junior Hanger and his wife, Sarah, of Mansfield, Missouri; three sisters, Joann Brame, of Ellsinore, Jean Allmon and her husband, Gerald, of Hartville, Missouri, and Janie Rooke, of the state of Georgia; many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born in Van Buren, Missouri and spent time in Oregon and Winona, Missouri where she worked at various occupations. Then in 1956 the family moved to Seymour, Missouri to make their home. “Grandma Julie” as she was affectionately known, worked as a cook in the Seymour R-2 school district for twenty-nine years before retiring in 1998. She had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Pentecostal Lighthouse Church in Seymour, where she enjoyed singing at area rest homes with her fellow church members. In her spare time, Julie enjoyed bowling, cooking, being outside in the yard, working in her garden and loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Julie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in the Hodge Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 - 4:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association may be made through the funeral home.
