Julius Whitie Jungmeyer's Obituary
Julius M. Jungmeyer, son of Mathias W. and Augusta C. Fischer Jungmeyer, was born February 21, 1924, in Cole County, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, March 28, 2009, in his home, Russellville, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, one month and seven days. On September 5, 1947, in New Home, Arkansas, he was united in marriage to Emma Arlene Phillips. She preceded him in death in October of 1970. He married Alice Jane Phillips on May 20, 1972, in Peoria, Illinois. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two children, Charles Jungmeyer and Judy Jungmeyer; a brother, Oscar Jungmeyer; and a sister, Agnes Kautsch. Survivors include his loving wife, Alice Jungmeyer of the home; four children, Gerald Jungmeyer of Russellville, Missouri, Stephen Fisher of Springfield, Illinois, Rebecca Ann Watson and husband Robert of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and David Fisher and wife Mary of Denver, Colorado; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister Lydia Ott of Lohman, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Whitie was raised in Cole County and as a young man enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served proudly in the Philippines during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Missouri where he worked several jobs including being a taxi driver. He later moved to Peoria, Illinois, where we worked for Caterpillar and was a farmer. He later moved to Greenview, Missouri, where he worked as a security guard. He and Alice retired to Russellville, where he continued to raise Angus cattle. He made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Capital West Christian Church in Jefferson City. In his spare time, he enjoyed carving leather and made many beautiful belts. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Julius was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered by many whose lives he has touched. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday April 1, 2009 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Climax Springs Cemetery in Climax Springs, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm on Wednesday until time of service under the direction of the Allee- Holman-Howe Funeral Home Camdenton, Missouri.
