June Belle Varga's Obituary
June Lucreta Belle (Burks) Varga, the daughter of John Louie Fulton and Mary Jane “Mollie” (Fugatt) Burks was born February 29, 1924 near Seymour in Webster County, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, March 21, 2011 in Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven.
On August 29, 1943 June was united in marriage to Eddie Grover Marlen and to this union two sons were born. Eddie preceded her in death April 26, 2010.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Bonnelle (Paul) McAnally and Pauline Susie (George Lloyd ) Wester; and two brothers, Darce R. Burks and Otis E. Burks, who was killed in action in World War II (Lena Grace Brumback).
June is survived by her two sons, James E, Marlen and his wife, JoAnn, of Millstadt, Illinois and Roger E. Marlen and his wife, Patricia Ann, of Dupo, Illinois; five grandchildren, Matthew James and Nathan Dwight Marlen, Jennifer Carrico and her husband, David, Triscia Brantley and her husband, Doug, and Ryan Marlen and his wife, Jamie; three great-grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth Marlen, Abbey and Jane Carrico; other relatives and many friends.
She grew up in the Seymour area where her parents owned and operated a café on the west side of the Seymour Square for many years. She moved with her family to Cahokia, Illinois while she was in her teens and graduated from Dupo High School in Dupo, Illinois. She worked most of her life as an office clerk and secretary in Illinois and Missouri. June was a very independent person, but following her failing health she moved in to a care facility in Kansas City to make her home.
We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish all the fond memories she created for those who knew and loved her.
Graveside services were held Friday, March 25, 2011 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, northwest of Seymour, Missouri under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour.
