June Legan North (Bolivar)'s Obituary
June Legan North departed this life on Sunday morning, February 10, 2013 at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar, Missouri. She was 90 years old.
June was born at home on the farm in Halfway, Missouri on June 7, 1922 to Robert Mark and Anna Jones. June was the youngest child of the family. She had one brother, Rex Glover, and five sisters – Myrl, Gladys, Jewel, Fern and Faye.
June attended Coy School with her sister Jewel as her teacher. She graduated from Halfway High School in 1940.
She was united in marriage to Adolphus J. “Dog” Legan on November 14, 1943 in Bolivar, Missouri, while Adolphus was serving in the United States Army during World War II. They were married by J. A. Hook, pastor of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. To this union two sons were born – Ken and Kyle.
June was saved in 1959 and was a member of Halfway Missionary Baptist Church until her passing.
June was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. She was active in many community activities. June also worked from the late Sixties to the early Eighties as a retail clerk at the FM Store and Horton’s in both Bolivar and Buffalo.
Adolphus passed away on December 14, 1975. June’s sister Myrl played the part of matchmaker by encouraging Eldon’s courtship with June. It worked, and June and Eldon North were united in marriage on July 2, 1985.
June and Eldon enjoyed the second part of their lives together. June enjoyed her new blended family and counted them as her own. In their final years together, June and Eldon depended on each other.
June is survived by her husband, Eldon North; son Ken and his wife Becky; son Kyle and his wife Rita; step-daughter Jenny Lou Weed; step-daughter Jerry Sue Chudomelka; grandchildren Mark Legan and his wife Angela, Brock Legan and his wife Sonja; Amber Sergent and her husband Wayne; Stephanie Howard and her husband, Tom; step-grandson Darin Heard and his wife Tammy; step-grandson Corey Heard; step-granddaughter Amanda Dishman and her husband Dane; step-granddaugher Wanda Chudomelka. Great-grandchildren include Dillon Legan and his wife Rachel; Drew Legan; Callie, Shae and Bodie Legan; Tyler and Kassidy Howard; Luke and Emily Sergent; step-great grandsons Ty and Jake Heard; step-great grandson Michael Stafford and step-great granddaughter Jessica Stafford and step-great granddaughter Kailey Leach. June is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
June lived her entire life in the home where she was born except for the last eleven months where she was a resident of Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility. Today, June is rejoicing in her heavenly home.
