June Weisenborn (Lebanon)'s Obituary
June Matilda Weisenborn, daughter of William and Barbara Bergmann Riebeling, was born September 20, 1923, in Columbia, Illinois. She departed this life Thursday, April 21, 2016, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-two years, seven months, and one day.
On May 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Fred Charles Weisenborn, and to this union one son was born. She and Fred shared fifty-six years before his passing on October 2, 2003.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Carl and Glenn Riebeling; and a sister, Wilma Straub.
June is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Janine Weisenborn, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; two grandsons, Frederick and Erich Weisenborn; four great-grandchildren, Frederick, Isabel, Henry, and Olivia; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised on her family’s farm near Columbia, Illinois. After she and Fred were married, they made their home near Columbia, and lovingly raised their son. June was a devoted homemaker to her husband and son, and also worked as the head cook and manager of a school cafeteria for a number of years. June took a correspondence course in hotel management and earned a certificate for her studies. She then put that knowledge into her work at the school. After she and Fred retired, they moved to Lebanon, Missouri, in 1989, to be near their son and his family.
June had professed her faith in Christ and was a longtime, active member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Columbia, Illinois. Once she moved to Missouri, she became a member of First Congregational Church (United Church of Christ).
She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary in Illinois. She had been a Cub Scout Den Mother when her son was at that age. In her spare time she enjoyed camping and fishing. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandsons and great-grandchildren.
June was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-two years.
