Kalvin Ray Burnett (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Kalvin Ray “Kal” Burnett, age 66, passed away on March 16, 2026, at Citizens Memorial Hospital. Kalvin was born on September 19, 1959, in Springfield, Missouri, to Eugene and Barbara Burnett. He graduated at the top of his class from Wheatland High School in Wheatland, Missouri. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 14 years, earning multiple commendations, including the Navy Achievement Medal. During his service, he was stationed aboard the USS John King and the USS Chancellorsville. Kalvin was also a veteran of the First Gulf War and served in Operation Desert Storm. Following his military service, Kalvin worked for JRI Industries, where he played a key role in growing the company from approximately 20 employees to several hundred by the time of his departure. Kalvin was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He loved fishing at the lake and rarely missed watching his beloved Raiders play football. Known for his humor and lively personality, Kalvin brought laughter to everyone around him. His wit, storytelling, and joyful spirit will be remembered by all who knew him. Kalvin was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Ann Burnett; his sister, Rita Burnett; his brother, Donald Burnett; his brother-in-law, Tim Ethridge; his sister-in-law, Linda Mincks and her husband David; and his sister-in-law, Mary Ethridge. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Burnett; his mother-in-law, Wilma Hood; his son, Carl Burnett and wife Jessica; his daughters, Christy Burnett and Heidi Burnett; his grandchildren, Natalie Jenkins, Andrew Jenkins, Kristina Eisman, Kyle Burnett, and Lukas Burnett; his great-grandchildren, Lylah Silva and Raelynn Shepardson; his brother, Bill Burnett and wife Deb; his sister, Tina Post and husband Don; his brother, Ronald Burnett; his brother-in-law, Bill Ethridge and wife Pauline; his brother-in-law, Wayne Ethridge; his sister-in-law, Chris Lewis and husband James; along with many nieces and nephews. Kalvin’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family will live on in all who knew him.
