Kathleen J. Baker (Seymour)'s Obituary
Kathleen Baker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend departed this earthly life Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, from complications amid a brave battle with cancer. She was 75 years wise.
The eldest of nine children, she was born Kathleen J. Scofield on March 28, 1945, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to Wesley L. and Rita K. (Reilly) Scofield. Her mother died at the age of 54, which made Kathleen the matriarch of her younger siblings. On March 12, 1964, she wed the love of her life Thomas Edward Baker, a soldier in the United States Army, and to this union four children were born. In 1982, Kathleen entered the Air National Guard/U.S. Army Reserve where she obtained nurses training. She was a dedicated wife and homemaker and worked outside the home as an LPN, usually working in nursing home settings. The Bakers moved from Rhode Island to Nevada, and several places in between. They retired to Seymour in rural Douglas County, Missouri, where they have lived for the last four years. Kathleen was a proud member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and the Douglas County Veterans Association. She loved spending time with grandchildren and the occasional game of bingo. In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Charlene Baker; four siblings, Austin, Patricia, Dennis, and Robert; and four brothers-in-law, Olan, Harry, Philip, and Dick. Kathleen leaves behind her devoted husband of over 55 years, Tom Baker; two daughters, Tammy and Nelson Sandoval of Mansfield, Missouri, and Kim and Tim Miller of Ozark, Missouri; two sons, Joseph Baker and Lynnette Flanders, of Seymour, and Christopher Baker of Mountain Grove, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and one great-great grandson; twin sisters, Susan and Sharron, and two brothers, Charles and Michael; nieces, nephews and many more extended family, friends and neighbors.
Kathleen will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
