Kathleen Mae Davis (Hartville)'s Obituary
Kathleen Mae Davis, daughter of Jack D. and Ruth F. (Hathaway) Stone, was born February 26, 1922, in Turin, Iowa. She departed this life Thursday, January 27, 2011, in Trinity Nursing and Rehab, in Merriam, Kansas, at the age of eighty-eight years, eleven months and one day.
On June 21, 1943 she was united in marriage to Richard Thomas Davis, and to this union two sons and two daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard, on January 1, 1990; her daughter, Geraldine Valdivia; a brother, Russell Stone; and a sister, Marjorie Minshall.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Larry Davis and his wife, Bette, of Springfield, Missouri, Floyd Davis of Lehigh Acres, Florida, and Carolyn Close and her husband, Carl, of Mission, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Raymundo Valdivia, of Topeka, Kansas; two brothers, Dwight Stone of the State of California and Eddie Stone of the State of Washington; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She grew up in Iowa and moved to California where she met and married Richard. She was a devoted homemaker caring for and rearing her family. In 1957 the family moved to Topeka, Kansas, and in 1963 moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where they resided until Richard retired. Kathleen and Richard then made their home in the Hartville area where they enjoyed life during their retirement years. In 2001 she moved to Mission Kansas to be near her family.
Kathleen had professed her faith in Christ as her Savior and was a longtime member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. She strove diligently to walk the Christian walk and read her bible. She was a very loving person and did whatever she could to help and make people happy. Throughout the years she assisted in the election process serving as an Election Judge.
In her spare time she found pleasure in taking walks, being outdoors and raising flowers.
Kathleen was a loving and devoted wife and mother, a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, a beloved sister and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but will live on in our hearts forever.
