Kathleen Ellen McCormick, daughter of Robert Dean and Bernadine Ann Bolda Johnston, was born September 21, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan. She departed this life Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, and five days.
On March 24, 1962, she was united in marriage to Brian Thomas McCormick, and to this union six children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Brian; and two brothers, Eric Johnston and James Hampton.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Colleen Millorit, and her husband, Timothy, of the United Kingdom, Cori Grunwaldt, and her husband, David, of Lebanon, Missouri, Sean McCormick, of Suffolk, Virginia, Heather Hemmer, and her husband, Michael, of Charleston, South Carolina, Brea Brown, and her husband, Clinton, of Springfield, Missouri, and Andrew McCormick, and his wife, Brianne, of Springfield, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from high school there. For much of her adult years, Kathleen worked diligently as a homemaker, raising her children in Detroit, later moving to the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area. As her children grew and moved out of the house, Kathleen began working as a bookkeeper for a local insurance company for several years.
Kathleen made her statement of faith in Christ and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in 1962. As a woman of faith, Kathleen was diligent to pass along her devotion to her children and indeed all who knew her. She was currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon.
She had many hobbies in life that brought her joy. She loved cross-stitching, putting puzzles together, going to the casino, reading and traveling with Brian. She looked back with particular fondness on her trips to the beach—especially to South Carolina and the Gulf Shores area.
Kathleen was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Memorial contributions to the Family Scholarships through the Trinity Lutheran Church may be made through the funeral home.
