Kathryn L. Hooper's Obituary
Kathryn L. Hooper, daughter of Hartwell E. and Margaret A. Hurt Ivey, was born April 7, 1916, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, November 22, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, seven months, and fifteen days. In 1934, she was united in marriage to Everett V. Hooper, and to this union two daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett, in 1987; a granddaughter, Keli Whitlow; four brothers, Charley, Bernard, Elmer and George Ivey; and two sisters, Margaret Ivey, and Alta Caulfield. Kathryn is survived by two daughters, Nancy Whitlow, and Margaret Ann Carrington, both of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren, Victor Wood, and his wife, Susan, Nancy Ann Graven, and her husband, Terry, Elaine Beaver, and her husband, Alan, Lisa Jackson, and her husband, David, and Susan Crayton; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Linda Hixson, and her husband, Garry, of Lansing, Kansas; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Lebanon, Missouri, and then lived in Rolla, Missouri during World War II. She then returned to the Lebanon area where she and Everett made their home and lovingly raised their daughters. Early in her life, Kathryn worked at the Rice Stix Factory and also as a clerk at Strickland’s Grocery Store. She later managed the Brentwood House Restaurant for many years. She also worked at the Tea Room in Nancy’s store for a few years. Kathryn was a longtime member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Lebanon. In her spare time she enjoyed doing ceramics and sewing. She also was an avid shopper. She was a strong-willed lady who was always willing to give advice. Her family was extremely dear to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren. Kathryn was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2006, in the St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Rosary services will be held Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. with visitaiton to follow. Memorial contributions to Catholic Youth Ministry may be made through the funeral home.
