Kathryn June Bennett Penkert (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Kathryn June Penkert, daughter of Robert and Ora Williams Bennett, was born January 21, 1948, near Niangua, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, May 6, 2017, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years, four months, and twenty-three days.
On November 8, 1971, she was united in marriage to James Franklin Penkert, Sr., and they shared forty-five years before his passing on September 14, 2016.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Willie “Sonny” Bennett; and a sister, Jean Wise.
Kathryn is survived by three daughters, Kim Easley, of Springfield, Missouri, Sherri Ramirez, and her husband, Eduardo, of Republic, Missouri, and Terri Johnston, of Buffalo, Missouri; three sons, Eric Penkert, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Miles, Texas, James Penkert, Jr., and his wife, Priscilla, of Marietta, California, and Justin Penkert, of Springfield, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Norma Wilhite, of Hartville, Missouri, Bonnie Wininger, Bessie Tinsley, and Barbara Kelly, all of the State of Idaho; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Competition community and in Idaho, where he father worked. She then made her home in Lebanon, Missouri for a few years. After she and James were married, they lived in various locations while James was serving in the military. Through the years, Kathryn was a devoted homemaker to her husband and a loving mother to her children. For the last few years, she had made her home in Springfield, Missouri.
She had a talent for art and enjoyed painting. She liked watching television, particularly the Food Network. She enjoyed baking cakes for any special occasion. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Kathryn was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will hold tightly to the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
