Kathryn L. Vincent (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Kathryn Lucille Vincent, daughter of Homer Roy and Florence Adaline Snyder Starnes, was born October 20, 1923, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, January 14, 2014, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, two months, and twenty-four days.
On June 2, 1942, she was united in marriage to Rev. Edward Freeland Vincent, and to this union one son was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, on November 11, 2005; two brothers, Warren and Don Starnes; and a sister, Peggy Jo Starnes.
Kathryn is survived by a son, Pastor Eddie Vincent, and his wife, Sharon, of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Michelle Orr, Monica Greenway, & her husband, Jamie, Mark Vincent, and his wife, Shay, Melayne Martin, and her husband, Matt; nine great-grandchildren, Zachary, Meredith, Gabrielle, Jamison, Anna, Madelyn, Jake, Nate, and Kade; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon area, and graduated from Lebanon High School. After she and Edward were married, they made their home in Lebanon, except for a few years when they lived in Wichita, Kansas. Kathryn began a career in the clothing manufacturing business starting with the Rice Stix Factory, and then continuing with Alliance and into the H. D. Lee Company, retiring as a supervisor. Throughout the years, she was also a very supportive minister’s wife, helping her husband in any way that she could. Later, she did babysitting in her home for several years.
Kathryn made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and had attended Green Hills Freewill Baptist Church. She often sang with her husband and with a trio, which even made a couple of records.
She was an excellent cook and was particularly known for her baking and wonderful pies. Her family and her faith were always most important in her life and she especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathryn was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered as a devoted homemaker, a dedicated minister’s wife, and a kind and caring friend to many.
