Kathy Wood's Obituary
Kathleen Sue Wood, daughter of Lawrence and Elsa Quast Schleiger, was born July 29, 1951 in Elkhorn, Wyoming. She departed this life, Thursday, November 15, 2007 at her residence in Lebanon, Missouri at the age of fifty-six years, three months, and sixteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jim Schleiger, and two sisters, Betty and Sally Schleiger. Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Thomas and her husband, Joseph, of Lebanon, Missouri; four sisters, Debbie Christman and her husband, Rick, of Falcon, Missouri, Patricia Zvolanek, of the State of Wisconsin, Bernice Bryson and her husband, Richard of the State of Texas, and Brenda Percival, of Lebanon, Missouri; five brothers, Lawrence Schleiger and his wife, Betty, Robert Schleiger and his wife, Sharon, Donald Schleiger and his wife, Mary, all of the State of Wisconsin, and Leonard Schleiger and his wife, Sue, of the State of Minnesota; three grandchildren, Rachel, Erica, and Natasha Thomas, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Kathleen was born in Wisconsin and spent all of her childhood there. She attended college in Mesa, Arizona and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree in. After graduation, Kathleen entered into the United States Coast Guard where she served as a medic. She was stationed in New Jersey and later transferred to Texas City, Texas, where she was discharged shortly after arriving there. After finishing her service with the Coast Guard, Kathleen attended UTMB in Galveston, Texas, where she received her degree as an LPN. She remained in Texas until moving to Lebanon in 2000. Kathleen’s Gibbon, Nathan, was her pride and joy. She was a very inspiring and strong woman who loved life. She had an appreciation for being outdoors and enjoyed doing farm work. She also had a fondness for horses, especially miniature breeds. Kathleen was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon.
