Kay F. (Hillme) Barrett (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Kay Francine Hillme Barrett, daughter of William C. and Elsie Ann Porter Hillme, was born August 12, 1941, near Conway, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, September 14, 2013, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, one month, and two days.
On May 20, 1960, she was united in marriage to Larry P. Barrett, and to this union four daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Dr. Herbert, Kenneth, Wilbur, Wayne, and Bernard Hillme; and six sisters, Beulah Harvey, Hazel Ponder, Freeda Hampton, Gladys Hillme, Velma Ulrich, and Grace Curry.
Kay is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Larry, of the home; four daughters, Kim Noyes, and her husband, Mike, of Lebanon, Missouri, Jennifer Paulsen, and her husband, Arthur, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Amy Dean, and her husband, Donald, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Lori Stroup, and her husband, Scott, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, including Tiffany Holmes, of Grain Valley, Missouri, and George Holmes, and his wife, Ashlea, of San Marcos, California, who were raised by Kay and Larry as if they were their own children; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Freida Hillme, Ada K. Barrett, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Dorothy Shisler, of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Morgan community, and attended Upper O’Dell School before graduating from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1960. After she and Larry were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their daughters. Kay was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and also worked at Ramey’s Market in Lebanon for twenty years. She began her career at Ramey’s as a checker, then was an Assistant Manager, and was working as a bookkeeper at the time she retired. Kay enjoyed working with people and made many good friends while employed at Ramey’s.
Kay had a deep, abiding faith in God and was a devout Christian. She had professed her belief in Christ and was raised in the Methodist faith.
In her spare time she enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and watching and feeding the birds. She focused her life on her family and her faith in God and was a very compassionate and kind person. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
Memorial Donations to Bear Thicket Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund may be made through the funeral home.
