Kay Ivey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Kathryn “Kay” Rae Ivey was born July 10, 1935 in Lebanon, Missouri to Richard V. Buck and Dorothy Holman Buck. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 26, 2024 in her home in Pleasant Hope, Missouri. At the time of her passing, Kay was eighty-eight years, ten months and sixteen days of age.
Kay grew up in the Park Manor area of Lebanon and was a graduate of Lebanon High School. On April 9, 1955, she was united in marriage to her true love and best friend, Robert L. Ivey. They were married over sixty-two years before he passed away on August 26, 2017.
In addition to her husband Robert, Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marsha Shockley; her brother, David Buck; a brother-in-law, Jim Ivey and his wife Barbara; and a sister-in-law, Betty Allen.
She is survived by her daughters, Lee Anne Peterson and husband Kevin of Springfield, Missouri and Laura Silguero and husband Ruben of Fair Grove, Missouri; two sons, Greg Ivey and wife Amie of Springfield, Missouri and Matthew Ivey and wife Laura Ann of Mansfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Heather, Jennifer, Teresa, Aaron, Sarah, Hayley, Lucas, Tessa and Adam; fifteen great-grandchildren, Fred, Elijah, Evelyn, Benjamin, Frances, Judah, Everly, Emerson, Everett, Elliott, John, Megan, Lauren, Emily and Andy, and many other loved ones; her sisters, Barbara LeMaster of Springfield, Missouri, Susan Rector of Cherry Hills, Colorado, Richard Buck of Protem, Missouri and Michael Buck of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Tom Ivey of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
Kay and the children moved several times, as Robert was in the United States Air Force. They were stationed at Whiteman AFB, Missouri, Vandenberg AFB in California, Altus AFB in Oklahoma, Anderson AFB in Guam, Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota, Fairchild AFB in Washington, and Barksdale AFB in Louisiana. Kay was a wonderful military wife and was active in the NCO Wife’s Club while her husband was in the military. She loved to travel and enjoyed going camping and fishing. She studied and toured each area they were stationed in and took the opportunity to teach her children about the different areas where they lived.
Following their time with the Air Force, they returned to the area and Kay was employed at Dillard’s Department Store in Springfield for over twenty years. She made many friends and enjoyed her time with Dillard’s very much.
Kay loved music and was an accomplished vocalist. She always had a song on her heart. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon and continued in faith throughout her life.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought her so much joy and laughter.
Kay was known for her unwavering dedication to her family, embodying the roles of a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home was a haven of warmth, love, and laughter, where countless memories were created and will be treasured for years to come.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ivey Cemetery and left at the funeral home.
