Kay Lockhart (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Janice "Kay" Gothard Lockhart, age 77, passed away on March 15, 2026, at home. She was the widow of Wayne Lockhart, who preceded her in death on November 18, 1999. They had been married for 29 years before his death. Kay was born in Cedar County, MO, on September 5, 1948. She retired from Fresh Ideas Foodservice at SBU in 2017 after 13 years as the cashier. She won SBU's Staff Member of the Year twice, even though she didn't actually work for SBU. She was beloved by all the faculty, staff, and students. Many students kept in touch with her for years after they graduated. While she worked there, she proudly drove her car with the license plate "Ms. Kay". Her hobbies were her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren. She loved going to their games, attending their parties, and always kept snacks in the pantry for them. She could often be found with one sitting in her lap. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Gothard, her in-laws, Clifford and Ruby Lockhart, and many other family members. She is survived by her children: Mark and Alanda Cantrell of Goodson, MO, Chris and JoNeita Kerr of Nixa, MO, and EJ and Stelia Lockart of Bolivar, MO. Her grandchildren, Kristin and Kirk Gastel of Grand Prairie, TX, Kelly and Justin Juline of Republic, MO, Bethaney and John Schrock of Cabool, MO, Chandler and Kayla Steward of Bolivar, MO, Tyler and Megan Lockhart of Bolivar, MO, Ethen and Katelynn Lockhart of Polk, MO, Clarice and Zach Crites of Bolivar, MO, and Abi Lockhart and Emily Daniel of Nevada, MO. Great-grandchildren: Lucas Cantrell, Oliver Juline, Ronnie Wayne Schrock, Hallie and Rhett Steward, Timmy and Charlotte Lockhart, Harper, Kinsley and Adeline Lockhart, and Waylen and Weston Crites, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends. Our hearts are broken, but we are comforted by knowing that she is finally with our dad again. . A Memorial service for Kay will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Butler Funeral Home.
