Kenneth Wayne Davis (Seymour)'s Obituary
Kenneth Wayne Davis, age 86 of Seymour, Missouri passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour. Kenneth was born November 22, 1930 on the family farm south of Diggins, Missouri. He was one of the six children of Calvin Winfield Davis and Emma Jane (Cook) Davis. He attended the Davis Country School.
Ken hauled hay and worked at the 66 Station in Seymour when he was a young man. After moving to the Kansas City area in 1963, he worked at a tire shop and then at Wyssmann’s Meat Company until he returned to the Seymour area in 1977. He went to work then at Hutchins Steel plant until he retired.
On June 5, 1958 he was united in marriage to Rose Evelyn Barton. This union lasted until her passing on August 5, 2006.
Hunting and fishing were very important to him. Fox and coyote were his favorite targets. He spent many a night out with his dogs, his hunting buddies and the old black coffee pot on the fire. Rose often called him a woods colt.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose; 4 brothers Glen Davis, Freeman Davis, Eck Davis and Floyd Davis; 1 sister Gladys Lawson; a step-daughter Jeannie (Bakker) Chapman as well as 2 grandsons Christopher Chapman Davis and James Allan Chapman.
Surviving Ken are a step-daughter and son-in-law, Rosalie & Victor Claxton of Seymour; 3 grandsons David Victor Claxton and wife Tammy of Seymour, Daniel Ray Claxton and Michelle of Hartville and Joseph Paul Claxton and wife Patricia of Elk Head, MO as well as many close friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
