Kenneth D Elam (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Kenneth Darrell Elam, son of James C. and Ora E. Binghan Elam, was born December 27, 1932, near Falcon, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, July 5, 2022, in his home in Avinger, Texas, at the age of eighty-nine years, six months, and eight days.
Early in his life he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Wade, and to this union two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty, on December 15, 2005; a son, Darrell Elam; and two brothers, Verlin and Earl Elam.
Kenneth is survived by a son, Mark Elam, and his wife, Debra, of Avinger, Texas; a brother, Rev. Arlo Elam, and his wife, Claudette, of Tampa, Florida; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and attended Lebanon R-III Schools. He entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force. During his twenty year career in the Air Force, he served three tours of duty in Vietnam and was also stationed in Japan for a time. After being honorably retired from the military, he began working as an electrician for the next several years. He eventually returned to the Lebanon community and he and Betty made their retirement home.
Kenneth made his profession of faith in Christ at a young age, and became a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lebanon. He currently was a member of Community Baptist Church near Lebanon.
He enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activity was fishing. He also liked doing woodworking projects. He loved his family and was very proud of his Ozark heritage.
Kenneth was a loving father, brother, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-nine years.
