Kenneth Gorman's Obituary
Kenneth Lowell Gorman, son of Kenneth Herbert and Ola Mabel Thurman Gorman, was born June 17, 1932, near Charity, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, four months, and four days. On June 21, 1958, he was united in marriage to Ann Marie Andersen, and to this union one daughter and one son were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Ranselere, Don Arthur, and Robert Lee Gorman. Kenneth is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Ann; a brother, Billy Joe Gorman (Rose); a son, Kenneth Allan Gorman (Gina); a daughter, Debra Ann Haikal (Dr. Maged Haikal); grandchildren, Amanda Joy Gorman, Justin Allan Gorman (Jill); Danielle Marie Haikal, Celine Jeannettte Haikal, Jana Josephine Haikal; great-grandchild, Casey Nicole Gorman; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Charity, Missouri community, and graduated from Conway High School. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to the Lebanon, Missouri area and he and Ann were soon married. They lived in Lebanon for several years and Kenneth worked in the tool and die business. They made their home in Lee’s Summit for a short time before moving to the Lake of the Ozarks where they lived for over twenty years. Kenneth worked as a manager of several marinas during this time. In 1999, he and Ann moved to Chesterfield, Missouri and enjoyed their retirement years. Kenneth followed the Christian faith throughout his life and was a member of Southern Heights Christian Church while he lived in Lebanon, then Phillipsburg Christian Church, and later West County Christian Church in St. Louis. He had served as a Bible School teacher and as an Elder. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting and fly fishing. He also was a master wood carver and did beautiful carvings, particularly of Indian busts, and belonged to the Wood Carvers Association. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchild. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday October 31, 2009at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Lebanon under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials have been established to the Shiloh Christian Childrens ranch or to the St. Luke's Cardiac Care Unit. Donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
